This year’s World Hospice and Palliative care Day event will be celebrated by conducting visits to the homes of community members in the Macdonald settlement to discuss the work of the hospice and palliative care service. MacDonald community consist of over 15 other villages, where our new in-patient facility is located. It is very close to Waterloo and Tombo villages; very highly populated settlements along the Freetown peninsula. This 16 bedded in-patient facility is expected to be commissioned to the public on 19th October to serve as referral centre for patients with life-threatening conditions that are diagnosed in public and private hospitals in Freetown. Testimonies from beneficiaries of palliative care service can also be heard. Display of banner and T-shirts, bearing the Day’s theme will be part of the program.
