On the 11th of October, 2012 socio-political event "Living till the Last Breath" took place in the capital of Ukraine, Kyiv. It was dedicated to the World Hospice and Palliative Care Day and organized by NGO All-Ukrainian League of Palliative and Hospice Careâ€Documentary "Step under horizon" was presented there. This film highlighted major problems of palliative care in Ukraine in general and personal stories of terminally ill patients in particular: their small mercies as well as pain, distress, despair ...The event was attended by politicians, executives, representatives of local governments, mayor of Kiev, representatives of international organizations in Ukraine, practitioners in palliative care, clergy, Honoured Artists of Ukraine, journalists. At the invitation of the League event was attended by guests from St. Petersburg: Chief Executive Officer of the St. Petersburg hospice for children, archpriest Alexander Tkachenko, Deputy Director Irina Himova.The event was held with the assistance of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and municipal administration.On the 13th of October volunteers of the League set 3 benches, planted trees, bushes, and flowers on the territory of the 2nd municipal hospital in Kyiv. They also collected money to support palliative care unit in the hospital. The action was organised by NGO All-Ukrainian League of Palliative and Hospice Care and supported by International Renaissance Foundation.
