World Hospice and Palliative Care Day Celebration

Meeting of the relatives of expired patients and patients currently seeking care was organized in the Dept. of Palliative Care on 8 th October 2016 from 11.00 am to 12.30 pm. It started with a prayer by the nursing students. Dr Dinesh Kumar, introduced the concept of palliative care and importance of the day celebration. 2 minutes silence was observed for the patients who had expired while on palliative care from the department. Dr Shyamsundar conducted a relaxation session for the participants. A hand-out for the session was also provided to the participants. Ms. Raksha Parmar, Principal of the GH Patel Nursing College, Karamsad talked about the importance of palliative care in overall management of life threatening conditions. She stressed upon the need for care of the care providers. The relatives of the patients who had expired shared the last moments of their dear ones and how the palliative care services had affected their lives.
