A 3 hour ceremony shall be conducted from 5 pm till 8 pm. The program includes four 20-minute talks about: the history of palliative care, ethical issues, spiritual care and end of life care. A folklore dance and graduation of health professionals who attended an intensive 3 weeks course in palliative care, including a radiation oncologist from Mauritania, a MSc holder in clinical psychology from Somalia, and 4 doctors and nurses from another city, Gedarif, shall take place. The event is inauguration of a resource center in palliative care (open 12 hours daily, 5 days a week) to help health professionals increase their knowledge in palliative care and conduct research in palliative care. The facilities and secretary are provided by the college; and most of the material - software, books, manuals, and toolkits were secured through the African Palliative Care Association - True Color's Fund. More than 300 people are expected to attend.
