Eighteen years after the project started, terminal patients living in the southern part of Milano – Italy will finally have their own hospice. Headquartered in a 14th-century building renovated thanks in part to a subsidy by the Italian Ministry of Health and for the rest to a donation by Fondazione Lu.V.I. Onlus, Hospice Cascina Brandezzata, owned by Ospedale Maggiore Policlinico, will accommodate 12 oncological and non-oncological patients at the end of their lives. To celebrate this event properly, we are planning a number of scientific meetings for health professionals as well as recreational activities for the general public. The main scientific meeting will be the meeting on “Complementary, integrative medicine in palliative care”, on Friday October 2nd. The highlights of our recreational activities will be an exhibit of paintings donated by an art school and a “spiritual gathering” with the Milanese community on Sunday, October 4th. The key event will be, of course, the Inauguration Ceremony on Tuesday October 6th.
