On October 8, the Worldwide Hospice Palliative Care Alliance will be hosting a free webinar open to the public on the topic: Universal Health Coverage and Palliative Care: What's next?
The free webinar will be held on October 8th, at 13.00-14.30 GMT and is accessible at the following link: https://zoom.us/j/613915167
The panelists include a range of distinguished speakers from the WHO, academia and country advocates where UHC pilots are happening now. Each speaker will provide a different perspective on what is needed to make palliative care as part of Universal Health Coverage a reality for all people in all communities who need it.
Panelists will include:
"Global processes and events have their place but when it comes to UHC, the most important thing is national action," said Claire Morris, WHPCA Advocacy Director who is facilitating the webinar.
According to Morris, the inclusion of palliative care within the political declaration is a great tool to hold governments to account to implementing palliative care as part of UHC. However, few member states raised the issue of palliative care within their statements at the UN High Level Meeting on UHC.
The aim of the webinar is therefore to provide a forum that fosters informative context and energises advocates to move forward on making palliative care as a part of UHC a reality at the local and national level a reality.
"All of us need to work together to achieve this. This webinar will open up the discussion to everyone on what needs to happen next," Morris said.
